ALLAN IRVINE
Dawn-Claire has been dancing ballroom and latin american since she was 4. Her training began in Edinburgh but by the age of nine she was commuting down to England for competitive training. She feels priveleged to have been trained by some of the most prolific dancers in the world including Marcus and Karen Hilton and Donnie Burns. She has represented her country in many worldwide events and has won a variety of titles most notably International, British and European latin american and ballroom championships and was presented with an Outstanding Achievement Award from the Scottish Dancesport Association. In 1993 she gave up competitive dance whilst studying at The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama where she attained a BA Dramatic Arts. On leaving she moved to Boston, Mass. where she continued her love of dance teaching at Fred Astaire Dance studios and Harvard University for the ballroom team.
Allan started breakdancing in 1984. He studied Dance at the Scottish School of Contemporary Dance and The Northern School of Contemporary Dance. Allan teaches, choreographs and performs and has worked with Professional and community companies including Dundee Rep, Scottish Youth Dance, Gridiron, Traverse, MacRobert Arts Centre, Cois Ceim (Dublin), Royal Festival Hall (London), British Council (New Zealand), The National Theatre for Scotland and for National Dance Agencies and Local Authorites across the UK. Allan established his award winning dance company, Freshmess in 1996 who perform and teach a unique blend of hiphop and contemporary styles. He has also been the Youth Dance Worker for Dancebase since 2001 providing positive dance experiences which target young people who cannot easily access dance due to social, economic or geographical restrictions
